Pi Mile

Spring is here! Now that the snow is starting to melt it’s time to dust off those running shoes. The 42nd Annual Dean Griffin 5k Pi Mile Road Race is on Saturday April 12th and is a great time to head down to Georgia Tech and jog around campus. This race around campus is only for students and alumni, a great way to reconnect with fellow graduates while getting in your morning workout. The Pi Mile Road Race is the longest continually occurring race in Atlanta. The current trail around campus was completed at the end of 2004 and dedicated in April 2005 as the Tyler Brown Pi Mile. The running trail is named for a former SGA President Tyler Brown (MGT 01, HTS 01), who was killed in Iraq while on active duty. One of Tyler's major goals while in office was to implement a safe, well-lit running trail on Georgia Tech's campus.

For those non-runners and those outside of Atlanta, the Alumni Association also has opportunities that may interest you. One of the unique challenges facing the Young Alumni Council is serving the needs of both alumni who graduated in the past year through those who graduated up to 10 years ago. Buying your first home may be one of your goals in these years as a young alum, but you may not know where to start. The GTAA is hosting “ How to Buy Your First House ” on Thursday April 3, 2014. Led by Atlanta Realtor Mary Beth Lake, she will talk you through the process and excitement of buying a home. It will be a great event and we hope you are able to attend.

Just a final reminder, the GT Gold team wants to hear from you if you or your fellow alumni have done something unique since graduating! Keep an eye out for events in your areas and let anyone on the council know if you have any great ideas for us.
